Toulouse-Lautrec in Paris (GB)
Although Toulouse-Lautrec cannot be counted on to provide depictions of the Paris of boulevards, parks and neighbourhoods, nobody was better at painting the night life of Paris than him: that of the theatre, the circus, the cabarets and the brothels, where he even rented a room for a while.
Very quickly, this deformed figure, more transgressive than any caricaturist ever was, revolutionised painting with motifs of indisputable modernity inspired by the reality of his extraordinary life and portrayed through a technique only possible because of the exceptional quality of his drawing.
